i had another ENT appointment on 9th january 2006. this doctor, a doctor Beard, has a beard and was a thousand fold better than the last ENT i saw in Ottawa. he injected some solution into my nose ( oww oww ) and then nasally probed me and spent what seemed like an eternity looking at the insides of my nose. what can possibly be so exciting in there ?
it turns out my nose is unusual. i already knew that. the nasal turbinates inside my nose are inflamed which leads to trouble in breathing which leads to shortness of breath which leads to not enough oxygen in my lungs which leads to an overall tiredness. and don't forget the horrible snoring :(
but what is unusual is that usually the front of the turbinates get inflamed. in my case it is the back of the turbinates.. further inside the huge nasal cavity. also my right nostril is smaller than the left nostril so when the turbinates move around, as they do occassionally blocking one of the two nostrils, i have more trouble breathing if the left nostril is blocked.
the diagnosis was that i need surgery and i am scheduled for surgery on march 30th 2006 under general anesthesia.. meaning i'll be sleeping which they cut stuff. scary !
but hopefully it will be for the better and my allergies and nasal problems will be less intrusive during summer of 2006
